Abstract

Kemampuan membaca, menulis dan berhitung adalah kemampuan dasar yang harus dimiliki oleh setiap siswa utamanya pada jenjang sekolah dasar. Berdasarkan hasil observasi awal dan wawancara langsung dengan Komunitas Gema Palopo terkait dengan kondisi 7 siswa binaan yang masing-masing tersebar mulai kelas 1-6. Masing-masing memiliki kecakapan dan kemampuan yang berbeda-beda dan dianggap masih kurang dalam hal membaca, menulis dan berhitung karena kondisi mereka yang tidak menentu masuk belajar dalam kelas seperti halnya dengan sekolah induk lainnya, hal ini didukung dengan tenaga pengajar yang hanya berjumlah 1 orang untuk semua kelas. Pengabdian ini hadir memberikan pendampingan dan pelatihan kepada sekolah SDN 573 Pabbatang dalam hal ini sebagai sekolah binaan komunitas Gerakan membaca Sawerigading (GEMA) Palopo. Kegiatan ini menggunakan pendekatan kakak asuh. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dalam 3 bentuk yaitu : a) pelatihan membaca; b) pelatihan menulis; 2) pelatihan berhitung. Jadi, secara keseluruhan kegiatan abdimas ini dilaksanaka dalam 3 bentuk kegiatan selama 4 kali pertemuan. Indikator capaian kegiatan pelatihan baca tulis ini merujuk/berdasar pada indikator membaca, menulis dan berhitung. Capaian kegiatan ini adalah terjadi peningkatan kemampuan membaca, menulis dan berhitung. Respon yang diberikan oleh guru dan siswa sangat positif selama kegiatan pengbadian ini berlangsung
