Pelatihan Bahasa Inggris Melalui Fun English Day di SMAN 2 Luwu
Abstract
Kegiatan Pelatihan Bahasa Inggris Siswa/i SMA Negeri 2 Luwu diadakan adalah untuk menciptakan suasana yang menyenangkan (fun) pada pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di sekolah, meningkatkan perbendaharaan kata siswa melalui aktivitas yang menyenangkan sehingga meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara (speaking skills). Selain itu, melalui kuis interaktif, siswa diberi kesempatan untuk berpartisipasi dan meningkatkan kepercayaan diri serta melatih pengucapan kosakata dalam bahasa Inggris. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang menyenangkan dan mudah untuk dipahami serta diingat khususnya dalam kemampuan berbicara serta memberikan kontribusi positif untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang dihadapi sekolah mitra dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.
Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan selama 1 bulan, dimana dalam pelaksanaannya terbagi dalam beberapa tahap yaitu: (1) tahap perencanaan, (2) tahap pelaksanaan yang berlangsung selama 1 hari dan (3) tahap evaluasi.
Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah Ceramah dan penjelasan tentang materi perkenalan diri dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris kemudian dilanjutkan oleh perwakilan dari siswa memperkenalkan diri Pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Inggris melalui guessing games melalui body language. Evaluasi adalah tahap akhir yang digunakan untuk mengoreksi dan membaha soal-soal. Setelah itu membuat pelaporan berupa laporan kegiatan pengabdian.
Berdasarkan pengamatan secara langsung dan dengan mewawancarai beberapa siswa hasil dari kegiatan ini, seluruh peserta merasa sangat senang dan antusias. Ini terlihat dari sikap mereka yang nampak mulai dari awal hingga akhir kegiatan. Hasil akhirnya adalah, mereka dapat mengetahui kesalahan mereka dan memiliki sikap positif dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris.
Walaupun masih ada para peserta belum maksimal atau masih malu-malu memperkenalkan dirinya dalam bahasa Inggris, paling tidak mereka telah berusaha dan memiliki pengalaman yang tentunya setelah kegiatan ini berakhir. Diharapkan agar mereka segera dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif serta prestasinya dalam hal akademik.
